AWARDS APPLICATION PROCESS
Submission into any of the five categories in the programme is free of charge and open to any UK based healthcare organisation. A key principle of the programme is also the sharing of judging feedback at each stage of the competition.

AWARDS JUDGING PROCESS
Criteria for the awards at each stage of the competition has been designed by the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare team to ensure each entry is measured against clearly defined sustainability metrics. Their framework has been developed through work on the Green Ward, Green Surgery Challenge and work with NHS Trusts and Boards on carbon modelling.
Taken together with Chamberlain Dunn’s extensive experience as awards programme producers, all participants can be confident that category shortlisted entries and eventual winners will have shown commitment to sustainable healthcare. This robust judging process will provide all stakeholders with the confidence for best practice sharing widely across the greener healthcare community and beyond.

AWARDS CEREMONY
In the first year of our programme we will commit to a virtual ceremony, using the Airmeet platform. We aim to bring the voices of our finalists together in a fast-paced ceremony, with contributions from our sponsors. With winners revealed Oscars-style on the night, we aim to capture the fun, spontaneity and excitement in the show. This will encourage the kind of important yet often informal networking that captures the spirit of great awards events. The audience will be made up of our finalists, sponsors, judges, invited guests and members of the wider healthcare and sustainability communities.

OUR PROGRAMME COMMITMENT
• In our first year of the programme we will hold a virtual launch event, use an online shortlisting system, virtual panel judging and virtual ceremony to reduce the carbon cost of travel for our finalists and judges
• We aim to ‘keep it green, and leave it on screen’
• Commit to avoid the use of single use or non-recyclable plastics at all stages of the awards cycle
• Adopt sustainable material for our winners’ trophies
• To make the finalists’ project summaries and contact details available widely to encourage and support the sharing of the best practice examples uncovered by the programme subject to agreement due to GDPR.
• To encourage our expert judges to give feedback on entries and to make all feedback available to entrants swiftly after shortlisting
• To encourage and support entries from across the UK healthcare system, and to look to build and expand the programme in the future.
